Henry Ford Grissett

Henry Ford Grissett, 97, transitioned from Earth to Eternity on August 23, 2026, at Solarbron Senior Living. He was born in Atmore, Alabama to Robert Henry Grissett and Leona English. He later moved to Macon, Georgia, where he was educated and graduated from high school.

After graduation, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. While in the Army, he became a Message Center Chief and qualified as an expert on the M1 Rifle. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. When Henry was discharged, he had attained the rank of Sergeant, which he continued to hold while serving in the Army Reserve.

On February 6, 1956, Henry became employed by Whirlpool Corporation, where he was a Head Operator on the door line and later promoted to Foreman several years before his retirement.

Henry professed hope in Jesus Christ at an early age. As a young man, he ensured his children attended church. He belonged to Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church before joining New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in 2005, where he was a Deacon and a regular attendee until his health declined.

Henry was a quiet man who enjoyed his family. He took pleasure in solving puzzles. You would always find him working in one of his Word Search Puzzle books or solving a Crossword Puzzle. He stayed active by walking daily in Washington Square Mall and shooting pool with his friends at the Carver Senior Citizens Center.

In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Grissett; children, Raymond Grissett, Leonard Grissett, Henry Grissett, Jr., Gwendolyn Grissett Starks; and all of his siblings.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, George Berry, Karen Robinson, Alice Cooper, Bruce Grissett, Gilda Turner; stepchildren, Bernice Williams, and Elgin Reynolds, Jr.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
